Morley Bedford was born in Aurora just before the turn of the century. He was the son of a Methodist minister. He later married Mabel Crawford whose family founded Pickering, Ontario. In 1919, Mr. Bedford began providing funeral services in Woodstock. Five years later he purchased a house at 21 Dupont St. and moved his business operations to Toronto.

Toronto & District Funeral Directors Inc. (TDFDI) was incorporated without share capital in the Province of Ontario by Letters Patent October 30, 1992. The significant primary objects of the association are to unite members of the funeral directors' profession and protect the character and status of the profession, promoting ethical practice, setting questions of professional usage and courtesy among members' of the profession and to maintain and improve the qualifications and standards of the profession.
